In concert with the calendar for the Pittsburgh Public Schools, we operate B.A.S.I.C. ACADEMY, an afterschool program for 60 students in grades K-5. It operates Monday through Friday, from 3:15 to 6:00 pm. Each day, students receive a healthy snack, homework help, and academic assistance under the guidance of our staff
members and volunteer tutors. Students spend additional time each week in “specialized clubs” such as robotics and art. Students participate in theme events with special guests as well as in occasional recreational and educational field trips. B.A.S.I.C THE ONLY afterschool program focused on play-based learning and recently re-designed several classrooms with a grant from the Sprout Fund.
In all our afterschool programs, our staff members model healthy relationships with one another and with students, so that young people can learn to treat each other with respect. Through Bible studies and life application discussions, students grow in their knowledge and love of God, and how they can follow Christ in their daily activities. Our program coordinators include certified educators, and our teachers are trained, caring adults.
September to May 2016
This program requires tuition of $175 per student, with the possibility of a $30 discount for income-eligible families. A $30 per student non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. Tuition is due before the start of program. Occasional field trips incur a small additional cost.
